How to uninstall BitTorrent from your PC

BitTorrent has the habit of leaving behind some leftovers.

Folders left behind when you uninstall BitTorrent:

Usually, the following files are left on disk:

You will find in the Windows Registry that the following keys will not be uninstalled; remove them one by one using regedit.exe:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\BitTorrent.exe
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\BitTorrent
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\application/x-bittorrent
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BitTorrent
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\BitTorrent

Open regedit.exe in order to remove the following registry values:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.btsearch\OpenWithProgids\BitTorrent
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.torrent\OpenWithProgids\BitTorrent
